This definitely isn't the first blog I've ever had. It's easily the fifth or sixth ever since middle school, only changing when I got bored or forgot a password after months of not writing a thing. It felt fitting to start this one, though, when I thought about everything that's going on in my life lately and all that's about to happen.
In the past three weeks, I've graduated from college, started a grad program at a new school, and just yesterday got my very first apartment in what I am starting to consider a brand new city.
Despite living most of my life about 15 miles away from downtown Indy, I've realized that I know absolutely nothing about it. Going to the mall, a concert, some restaurants, or a Colts game a few times a year apparently is no help in figuring out the important everyday things about the city....which directions the side streets go, where the out-of-the-way cafes and shops are, where to get groceries and, almost most importantly, where to meet new people.
So I now find myself faced with a situation that isn't at all uncommon to anyone who's just graduated and/or moved to a new city, but it's incredibly new and unfamiliar to me. I'm certainly no stranger to starting new things, or to going it alone. Yeah, I'm nervous about it; I don't want to mess it up or miss out on things and there are a lot of uncertainties ahead. But I have a once in a lifetime experience here to really show who I am and make the most of it all.
So, that's what this is about.
